Illustrator & Sequential Artist

Corrupted at an early age by “Star Wars”, Spider-Man and horror comics, I copied out of comic books and “Dungeons and Dragons” novels until discovering “How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way” at the local library at the age of ten. Went to Xavier High School in New York City simply because they had a cartooning club. Took art for three years in high school-- did a brief stint as drummer in the school band my senior year-- then attended Manhattan’s School of Visual Arts and majored in-- of course-- cartooning and illustration. Focus: sequential storytelling, aided and abetted by a lifelong love of comic books and film. Learned how to tell a story  with pictures and trained by guys like Carmine Infantino, Walt Simonson and Klaus Janson. Graduated in 1996 and got a crash course in the horrors of freelancing. In September of 1997 I signed on to the art department at Xavier where, in the last 13 years, I have taught an intro-level art class to roughly 3000 students. I’ve been lucky enough to have technology at my fingertips and so have explored new ways of working through the use of such programs as Photoshop and Illustrator.
